Barry M. Portnoy
Managing Trustee
Mr. Portnoy is a founder of SNH and has served as one of our Managing Trustees since 1999. Mr. Portnoy also serves on the Boards of CommonWealth REIT, Hospitality Properties Trust, Government Properties Income Trust, Select Income REIT, the RMR Funds, Five Star Quality Care, Inc. and TravelCenters of America LLC. Prior to devoting his full time to RMR and its affiliated companies in 1997, Mr. Portnoy was a Partner and served as Chairman of the law firm of Sullivan & Worcester LLP. As a lawyer and businessman, Mr. Portnoy has structured, negotiated and documented over $20 billion of real estate transactions over a 30 year period.

Adam D. Portnoy
Managing Trustee
Mr. Portnoy has served as one of our Managing Trustees since 2007. Mr. Portnoy also serves on the Boards of CommonWealth REIT, Hospitality Properties Trust, Government Properties Income Trust, Select Income REIT and the RMR Funds. Mr. Portnoy currently serves on the Board of Governors for the National Association of Real Estate Investment Trusts (NAREIT). He is also a member of the Board of Trustees at Occidental College.  Mr. Portnoy has held positions as a banker and venture capitalist with the International Finance Corp., a member of the World Bank Group, ABN AMRO and Donaldson Lufkin and Jenrette.

John L. Harrington
Independent Trustee
Mr. Harrington has been one of our trustees since 1999. Mr. Harrington is Chairman of our Board's Nominating and Governance Committee and Compensation Committee. Mr. Harrington also serves on the Boards of Hospitality Properties Trust, Government Properties Income Trust and the RMR Funds. Mr. Harrington was the CEO of the Boston Red Sox Baseball Club until 2002, and is currently the Executive Director and Chairman of the Yawkey Foundation and a trustee of the JRY Trust. Mr. Harrington is a certified public accountant.

Jeffrey P. Somers
Independent Trustee
Mr. Somers has been one of our trustees since 2009. Mr. Somers serves on the Audit, Compensation and Nominating and Governance Committees of our Board of Trustees. Mr. Somers also serves on the Boards of Government Properties Income Trust, Select Income REIT and the RMR Funds. Mr. Somers is a partner of the law firm of Morse, Barnes-Brown & Pendleton, PC of Waltham, MA.

Frederick N. Zeytoonjian
Independent Trustee
Mr. Zeytoonjian has served as one of our trustees since October 2003. Mr. Zeytoonjian is Chairman of the Board's Compensation Committee. Mr. Zeytoonjian also serves on the Board of CommonWealth REIT. Mr. Zeytoonjian is the founder, Chairman and CEO of Turf Products Corporation, one the largest distributors of lawn care equipment in the U.S.
